Here is a quick Google Calendar guide to help you navigate the calendar.
Ms. Lundy's ELA class working on their book boxes in the Learning Commons! Can't wait until this space becomes more open for collaborative spaces and nice Maker areas for students. Until then, teachers, keep coming down and using the areas! Remember the Google Document is for technology checkout. Email me if you want to use spaces.
A new chromebook cart system for ROHS has been established. For anyone who stumbles on this blog this may be beneficial for you and your building. When I was at ROMS we started a system where teachers did self-checkout via a Google Document for Google Chromebook carts. Carts were placed on each floor (6th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade). This seemed to work really well because then teachers could easily grab a cart in the morning and easily put it back in the afternoon for the next teacher.
With ROHS being so big and the need for technology growing, it's apparent there is a need for a better system. We are starting the new system here at ROHS too! After MAP testing chromebook carts will be housed in departments for ease of use. Easy access to technology equates to more use of technology. Seems simple.
Each cart has been organized and cleaned. A special thanks to Andrew B. our awesome technology point man for helping out. Cords have been zip tied in to prevent tangling, etc and are ready for use. Departments will receive Chromebook Cart Guidelines and Agreements soon.
It's the first week back to school and I'm settling into the new position of Teaching and Learning Specialist. I'm super excited to be back at Royal Oak High School. I may be a bit biased, but I think the students at ROHS are the best. :)
It's off to a stellar start. There has been a lot of planning, creating of systems/protocols, cleaning, and helping of teachers and students. I'm think my blog will transform and progress as the LC does as well. I hope to chronicle the process. Looking forward to the formation for the Learning Commons. Stay tuned.
I love Googling information. If I don't know something, I find out! The Internet is super cool that way. I don't claim to know all things tech, but I love problem solving and trying to find answers.
